Sandgate Meals On Wheels Case Study

More Than Just a Meal...

Meals on Wheels is an iconic Australian Not for Profit organisation that has been bringing local communities together for more than 60 years. Meals on Wheels, along with other Home and Community Care services, aim to assist the elderly and those with disabilities to remain living independently for as long as possible. People may not be able to cook for themselves for a variety of reasons. Sometimes the service is received for a short time, such as after a hip replacement operation. In most cases the meals are provided on an on‑going basis for people who for various reasons are unable to prepare food for themselves.

The 15,000 volunteers who make Meals on Wheels possible, deliver 2 million meals a year across Queensland, to more than 10,000 people with a wide variety of support needs, not just meals for seniors. For many years now, Confoil has been a proud food packaging supplier of the Meals on Wheels program across the country. More recently, Queensland’s Sandgate Meals on Wheels have moved from aluminium trays to serve their meals to our pulp meal cavity trays which they heat seal with a clear film.

“We are really happy with the quality of the pulp meal trays. We also like that the pulp trays are environmentally friendly being made from compostable and biodegradable wheatgrass, which is an important consideration to us” states manager Shirley.

Sandgate Meals on Wheels have enjoyed a great relationship with Confoil over the years. “Confoil make the ordering process an easy one for us, they have helped us out a lot over the years and we have always been impressed with the level of customer service we receive.” “Confoil’s pulp meal trays have provided us with a great packaging solution that is easy to use, practical, eco-friendly and the compartments of the container give us great flexibility when it comes to meal preparation”.
